INMETRO UL-BR Mark: Appliance Compliance in Brazil

Gain INMETRO certification for your products to access the Brazilian market

When it comes to accessing the Brazilian market, fast-evolving regulatory guidelines pose a constant challenge to manufacturers. UL is the world's most comprehensive provider of appliance testing and certification services required by Brazil's safety regulations. UL in Brazil is accredited by the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO).

UL Testtech is accredited by INMETRO to test conformance to all of the IEC 60335 family of household (and related) electrical appliance standards. At our testing laboratory in Porto Alegre, UL also provides electrical safety and performance testing services for product categories other than appliances, including automotive parts, luminaires and other lighting products.

UL Testtech scope of services for appliances – and beyond

UL INMETRO safety testing and certification in Europe

European manufacturers can perform lab testing to obtain the INMETRO certification in Europe at one of the ILAC accredited laboratories. The types of products in the appliances and HVAC categories for which UL can run full tests in Europe include: coffee machines, refrigerators, range hoods, floor cleaners, dishwashers, beverage dispensers, vending machines and many other products covered by IEC 60335 series, for both household and commercial use.

All these products can be tested by UL laboratories in Milan, Italy, for Brazilian regulation. The Italian laboratories are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by ACCREDIA, the Italian accreditation body which has a mutual recognition agreement with ILAC.

UL can offer full-service, state-of-the-art appliances and HVAC testing. This provides European manufacturers with the same unparalleled level of technical support relied upon by many of the world’s leading appliance manufacturers, as well as delivering the clear advantage of simplicity and reduced turnaround time.

In addition, UL offers local training for INMETRO and IEC Standards both in Europe and Latin America.

Appliance manufacturers can rely on UL for complete product testing, certification and follow-up services to gain the INMETRO UL-BR Mark and to access the Brazil marketplace.
